| Deanwood Strategic Development Plan
In conjuction with the District of Columbia's Great Streets Initiative, the DC Office of Planning has conducted a land development and community engagement project. This project and plan highlighted the northern Ward 7, including the Deanwood neighborhood which includes Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue and Minnesota Avenue NE, corridors. The Strategic Development Plan builds on the successes of and knowledge obtained by previous projects in the area including:

The final Strategic Development Plan will provide an implentation of framework for public investment in a broad range of areas, leading to neighborhood stabilization and revitalization over a ten-year period. This planning process has also resulted in:

A neighborhood, corridor plan and massing scenarion that defines new neighborhood centers of convenience and other retail, housing, education/culture and office uses while highlighting opportunities for assemblage and infill development attractive to private investors.

A detailed implementation strategy that outlines the roles and responsibilities of public and private stakeholders and includes reccomendations for select public site disposition, development phasing and financing.

An outline of the fiscal and economic impact of new investment.

The Council will hold a public hearing on the Deanwood Strategic Development Plan on June 10, 2008. Community residents, property owners and merchants are encouraged to testify.Written comments must include the name, address and any organization for which the comments represent.
