The draft report of the Kennedy Street Revitalization Plan was released on February 7, 2008. A notice was published in the District of Columbia Register that announced the publication of the plan and the commencement of the thirty day public comment period. Prior to release of the Draft Plan, an Advisory Committee meeting was held on January 31, 2008 for a briefing on the Plan’s content and the process for submitting comments relative to the Plan. To provide the opportunity for public comment on the draft plan, a Mayoral Public Hearing was held on March 13, 2008.
In addition to the testimony received at the March 13, 2008 Mayoral Public Hearing, the Office of Planning received written comments. A copy of the hearing transcript and the written comments are available upon request. The Council will hold a joint hearing on the Kennedy Street and Upper Georgia Avenue Small Area Plans on June 10, 2008. Please see Public Meetings for further detail. Community residents, property owners and merchants are encouraged to testify. Written comments must include the name, address and any organization for which the comments represent. To provide oral testimony at the hearing, please contact Councilmember Bowser’s Office at (202) 724-8052 or contact Malaika Abernathy at (202) 442-7617 for additional information.
