Anacostia Riverwalk and RiverParks

The City's Renewed Playground for Sports, Water Activities and Nature Interpretation

As the centerpiece of the RiverParks, Anacostia Park will feature peerless waterfront parks for recreation and exploration in both pastoral settings and the natural environment. The RiverParks will serve surrounding neighborhoods, matching Rock Creek Park in size. The Anacostia Riverwalk and Trail and an improved park road system will unify Anacostia Park and connect unique destinations, such as the new Boathouse Row and Sports Center. Integrating the park into the region’s open space system will form an “emerald necklace” of parks, offering richer, more cohesive outdoor experiences.
