AWI Public Planning Process

The public process for the Anacostia Waterfront Initiative is an unprecedented planning effort that brings together the District of Columbia government, the federal government and the citizens of Washington, DC. Since the signing of the AWI Memorandum of Understanding in March of 2000, the AWI has held over 30 community workshops and focus groups in all of the project target areas engaging over 5,000 participants.
