Patsy Fletcher
Community Outreach Coordinator

Patsy Fletcher is the Community Outreach Coordinator for the Historic Preservation Office of the Office of Planning.  Her responsibilities include providing outreach and education to communities and residents throughout the city on matters related to historic preservation and neighborhood history.  In particular, her focus is on communities that are not historic districts. As a community development consultant, Ms. Fletcher provides non-profit capacity-building to organizations servicing low-income neighborhoods. She is a former executive assistant and chief of staff for a public housing authority and former manager in a state and federal civil rights enforcement agency. As an independent historian, Ms. Fletcher has contributed articles and presentations on the Underground Railroad, development of Reconstruction African American communities, African American architects and genealogy. Ms. Fletcher, a resident of the District since 1989, has a BA in Anthropology from the University of Washington (1973), an MS in Community Economic Development from Southern New Hampshire University (1993) and an MA in Historic Preservation from Delaware State University (2002).
