Robert Sonderman Archaeologist Term: Appointed 1992, reappointed 1995, 1998, 2002, and 2008. Current term ends July 21, 2008. Mr. Sonderman serves as the senior staff archeologist for the National Park Service (NPS), National Capital Region. His responsibilities include the oversight of NPS archeological excavations throughout Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. In addition, he serves as the archeological collections manager for the over 1.5 million archeological specimens in NPS collections. Robert Sonderman is a resident of the Capitol Hill neighborhood and has served on the Review Board for over a decade.
